Winner, winner

Pat ran in the Cheyenne Mountain 25K trail run last weekend.  We went to watch him finish (he beat his time from last year by 3 minutes--woo-hoo!).  The boys naturally gravitated to the "podium" and took turns as first, second and third place.

The Easter bunny also hid some dinosaur "fossils" in the sandbox.  The boys had a good dig to find them.

Maggie is a girl on the go.  She likes to check everything out these days.  I just took her in for her nine month check-up today.  She weighs 20 lb. (75%) and is 28.6 inches long (80%).  She is a happy, healthy girl!

Soccer Boys Part 2

We had a good soccer Saturday before the bad weather drifted in. Gus was supposed to have a make-up game Sunday as well but that didn't happen due to the snow.

Gus' team started strong and scored several goals right away but the other team ended up coming back and winning by a goal.

Cormac's team won in a 10-2 landslide victory.  Cormac scored the first goal on the first possession of the game.  He went on to score 2 more.

Maggie stands up all of the time now.  She is even attempting to "cruise".  Walking seems like it may be just around the corner.

Cheyenne Mountain Xterra 5k

I ran in the Cheyenne Mountain Xterra 5k Trail Run this last Sunday.  I have been slowly (and when I say slowly, I mean like a turtle or molasses) getting back to running.  I try to carve out time three weekdays and once on the weekend.  It doesn't always work out but this trail run was the perfect goal.  I have never done trail runs before.  I had one practice run the weekend before but the weather on the weekends has not been conducive to trail running (at least not for beginners like me).  So on Sunday we all set out for the state park down the street for the race.  I was really nervous but it ended up being so much fun.  Unfortunately in the beginning I got stuck behind quite a few slower people.  Once I finally got the chance to pass them I was off.  Trail running is more difficult in that you have to pay more attention to where you are stepping, etc., but it was also so much more interesting.  I ended up finishing in 34:25.  I was even third for my age group.  It was such a good time and I am so happy I did it.  Now I just need to find a new goal.

Soccer boys

Gus and Cormac are both playing soccer this spring.  They are both on teams with pals from each of their schools.  Gus' team is the Mountain Lions and Cormac's team is the Crocodiles. I only had my phone for a couple of pictures for their first games but I will remember the camera to get better pictures in the future.

Cormac had his first game this last Saturday.  I am not sure of the final score (they don't keep official score) but Cormac scored three goals.  He was very hesitant at first, but once figured it out he was awesome.

Gus' first game was the Saturday before last.  His game this last weekend was rescheduled due to the field being a mud pit from the snow.  His team won their first game.  Gus also did a great job.
