Garden of the Gods

We went to the Garden of the Gods right here in Colorado Springs this weekend. There are a lot of cool natural rock formations and several paths to walk around. Gus was disappointed because the paths were all sidewalks and he wanted trails for a hiking adventure more like his old forest adventures with Beebo.
Ready to go.
It was his first time in the backpack and he really enjoyed it (until he fell asleep).

That's Pike's Peak in the distance.

All that's left is the Ark

Lately Gus has been leading the way in our "project" ideas (he does have a fantastic imagination).  Usually I come up with something for the boys to make, paint, etc.  But now Gus is coming up with the ideas and I have to figure out how to construct them.  First, he wanted to make houses for his and Cormac's animals.  That was easy enough, I used boxes and cut out doors and windows.  Then they decided how to decorate (stickers outside and paint inside).  Next he wanted to make storm clouds.  Um, okay...So they mixed paint to make gray and then painted a cloud and lightening.  Once those were dry we attached them to hangers and added white strings for the rain.  After that he wanted water, lots of water.  I came to realize that a flood was coming to his room.  So out came some blue sheets.  Now I am just waiting to him to start building an Ark.

Gus' animal house (I think it has already been converted to a boat).

Cormac's storm cloud.
Notice he is wearing his rain boots and a jacket with a hood--they have to dress the part for the flood.
Everyone floating to safety on upturned toys serving as vessels. They are such a hoot!

Gus' Growth

I just took Gus in for his school physical/4 year-old check up.  He hasn't gained much weight but he has grown two inches since his appointment last summer.  He is now 45.1 pounds (above the 95%) and 45 inches tall (also above the 95%).  He did have to get 3 shots and he was none to happy about that.  I even got my tetnus/pertussis booster first to show him it wasn't a big deal but he still wasn't buying it.  He is doing so well and is excited to start his new preschool here in Colorado Springs.

Nine months!?!

Cadel will be nine months old next week! He is still the sweetest little baby (and a big mama's boy). He is now "cruising" around on the furniture and anything else he can pull himself up on. He will be walking before we know it and then his brothers will really be in for it.

Taking care of babies

One afternoon I found Gus and Cormac taking care of their babies (stuffed animals). Gus said they found the eggs and kept them until all of the babies hatched (explaining that all babies don't come from eggs is another post for another time...). When I found the boys the babies were all taking naps in my room--guess it is the best place for a nursery or day care.

Indoor camping

We had some rainy days so we set up a tent inside for the boys. It was a big hit for quite awhile (until Gus and Cormac kept zipping it up to keep Cadel out--"no babies, only big boys").

Another way I know life is completely different

Not a random shot of my foot, really. I dropped a picture on my foot. So I went to get a bandaid. I had to laugh because the only bandaids I could find had robots, trucks, aliens or Angry Birds on them. How life has changed!

Spin Cycle Part III

The wonder of the washing machine continues...this time it's Cadel's turn to be mesmerized.

Oklahoma 2012 Part II

After our stay at Grandma's house we went to visit Mimi and Opa. The boys had a blast!  They played with cousin Claire, went to the park, went to the PlayZone, swam, and played outside. It was a great trip and we were so happy to spend time with everyone!

Claire and Gus hiding out at the park.

Snack time.

Where's Gus?
Where's Cormac? He gets the hiding part a little backwards sometimes.
