Bubbles and Dirt, Part II
More pictures from playing outside last week.
Gus somehow manages to wear quite a bit of the dirt he loads into his dump truck.

In these pictures Cormac is saying "dee". That is his way of saying "cheese". He is becoming quite the little ham.

Gus' New Ride
Gus earned his first bike today. Since he outgrew his tricycle over the winter months, I devised a little chart where he earned stickers for doing chores and random acts of kindness. Once he filled his chart with stickers, it was time to go to the bike shop with Dad to pick out his very first big-boy bike. Pat and Gus came home today with an awesome blue and white bicycle. Gus spent quite a bit of time this afternoon breaking in the new bike.
Putting the "ding-ding bell" on the bike--an essential part of the biking experience for Gus.
Getting some coaching from dad on how to turn around.
Mr. Cool
Since Gus finally had his new wheels, he was ready to officially hand over the tricycle to Cormac. Gus very ceremoniously did this and now Cormac can have it all to himself.
Watch out Schleck brothers, you have some competition.
"Racing" on the driveway.

Bubbles and Dirt
Bubbles seem to be like empty boxes--they just never get old. Gus has loved blowing bubbles ever since Mimi sent him his first container when he was a little tiny guy. Cormac is now discovering how fun bubbles are. We gave him a little "no-spill" bubble cup for Valentine's Day. He has a long way to go on mastering how to blow the bubbles, but he sure likes walking around with the bubble wand.
How does this work?

Getting a little lesson from Gus.
Boys and dirt go together, so whenever he gets the chance Gus goes to load up his dumptruck with dirt, acorns, leaves, sticks, you name it.
This was an exceptionally dirty day outside. After the stickiness of blowing bubbles they covered themselves with dirt so we had to go straight to the tub, but it is always worth it for some fun in the dirt.

The Circus McGurkus
The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus was in town last weekend (Gus calls it the Circus McGurkus thanks to the Dr. Seuss book). We went on Saturday morning and I think I was more excited than Gus. We had fantastic seats (3rd row) and we all really enjoyed the show. Cormac was in awe of the animals and lights. He kept pointing and clapping at everything. It took Gus a little longer to get warmed up. I think everything going on overwhelmed him at first, but by the end of the show we had to keep telling him to sit down in his chair because he was standing up staring at everything. Gus' favorite were the "silly dogs with bells on" (people dressed up Chinese dog costumes). Pat and I were really impressed with the talent displayed by all of the performers.
