Memorial Day Weekend

We had a fun and busy Memorial Day weekend.  Friday we went camping right down the street at Cheyenne Mountain State Park.  It was so busy so we were only able to stay one night but the boys packed a lot into that time.
Making Yucky Stew for their cars.  This always involves water and lots of dirt.
Like typical males, they are standing back and admiring their work.
One hot dog finally found a shady spot.
Cadel has taken to sneaking off whenever he can while we are camping.  He ran the toddler equivalent of a marathon while we were there.
Cormac took his water gun and spent quite a bit of time squirting water on plants, rocks and trees.
Gus had both his bike and scooter and went around and around the loop.  He had one big crash on his scooter but he is very proud of his strawberries on his arms and legs.

I brought a little horseshoe set from the dollar section at Target.  They were interested in learning horseshoes for about a minute.  Then Cormac and Cadel took the horseshoes to make tunnels for their cars and trains.

Saturday we went to Old Colorado City (a little historic part of Colorado Springs) for Territory Days.  We didn't end up staying long because it was way too much of a carney fest.  However, we did let Gus and Cormac ride the little train ride.

Sunday we went to a Colorado Springs Sky Sox game.  They are the triple A team for the Rockies.
Everyone started out doing pretty well but Gus and Cormac didn't last as long but Cadel had a blast.  He was dancing and laughing the whole time.

Garden Party

Gus had his last preschool event last night.  His class held a Garden Party (oddly it was inside...) complete with a slide show and short program by the class.  Gus and I went together (Pat is currently in Houston doing an Ironman so our sitter came to stay with the younger boys since dinner at the party wasn't until 7).
Each child in the class painted a picture for the Garden Party.  Gus did a great job on his--he even had golden hair.  Cadel is in a lot of pictures lately because he has suddenly become a ham when he sees the camera come out.

Monkey see, monkey do.  I don't even remember what Gus was trying to do here but Cadel had to try as well.
The performance at the Garden Party.  Gus is in the back row at the very left end.
It was another great year of preschool for Gus.  The Garden Party was a great end to the year.  Now on to Kindergarten!

Gus' last day of preschool

Yesterday was Gus' last day of preschool.  He has had a great year at his preschool this year and made many good friends.  School really suits him and his personality.  He is very excited to start kindergarten in August.  Hard to believe he will be entering the big kid world of elementary school!

 Posing as a tiger.
Cormac has been counting down Gus' days in preschool.  He is so excited because it is now "his" preschool.  He will start in September and he couldn't be more excited.

Ready for blast off

Last week I found two boys ready to go to space.  They had on hats, gloves, headphones (so they could talk to each other in space, I was told) and backpacks (jet packs).

Naturally Cadel had to get in on it too.  He came in with one mitten.
Then he ended up stealing some headphones.

Will it ever be spring?

We had an very unusual May Day, even for Colorado Springs.  We had 4+ inches of snow.  Luckily, it only stuck to the grass, trees, etc., since the streets were already too warm.  It was still cold enough the day after that Cormac and Cadel had a chance to go play around in it before it melted Thursday afternoon (Gus was enjoying the snow on the preschool playground that morning).  Several times I have thought about packing away the snow clothes and boots but I am glad I haven't--maybe by June?
