When Gus is 100

A couple of weeks ago Gus' kindergarten class celebrated their 100th day of school.  They did several activities for it but I really like this one so I thought I would share.  I like how Gus drew himself with wrinkles and gray hair, but he is also wearing a cap.  I love that when he is 100 he would like to go on a long hike.

Visting the Dinosaurs

We took our dino-crazed bunch to the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center in Woodland Park this past weekend.  They have fossils of dinosaurs, pterosaurs and marine reptiles. It isn't a very big place but the boys loved looking at everything there.

We happened to make it right in time for story time.  The boys really enjoyed that--especially Cormac and Cadel.  The woman doing story time was showing different dinosaurs and asking what they were.  She would start off by offering one or two incorrect names for each dinosaur.  Mr. Know-It-All Cadel got into this.  When she was holding up a Triceratops she asked if it was a Stegosaurus.  Cadel kept yelling over and over, "It's not a Stegosaurus! It's a Triceratops!"  It was great.
Story time.
Maggie was unimpressed with story time but had fun when we walked around.

Toothless

Gus lost his first tooth last night!  It has been loose for over a week but I think he was scared to take the final step and pull it out.  Last night Pat and I were asking how the tooth was and if he had tried to get it out yet.  Gus said, "No!  I tried and it won't come out.  See!"  As soon as he did that it popped right out.  It really surprised him--so much that he let the tiny baby tooth fly right out of his hand.  We had to spend a few minutes searching the floor but we found it.  He left it for the tooth fairy last night and was surprised to find a whole dollar in it's place (the tooth fairy must pay better these days due to inflation???).

Dino Invasion!

Gus has been into dinosaurs for quite awhile now.  However, it has taken hold with all Bryan boys.  We have daily discussions about dinosaurs and I am learning far more about dinosaurs than I ever wanted or needed to know (my favorite carnivore is Dromaeosaurus and my favorite herbivore is Ankylosaurus).
The dinosaurs come out to play often.

What always makes me laugh is where I find the dinosaurs.
Cadel, especially, has a habit of leaving them in weird places.   It is almost as if they are hiding out waiting for me--like here T-rex defeated Stegosaurus behind some picture frames.

Dog tracks

I just think this is funny.  We had a bunch of snow this week and it has been pretty cold.  Max has not been too keen on going outside since it is so cold.  He usually loves the snow but not this time.  So he has carved paths in the snow and he sticks exactly to those because otherwise the snow is up to his belly.  It is so funny to watch him go outside and stay on his roads.

A boy and his dump truck

Cadel received this dump truck from Santa for Christmas and he adores it.  He uses for all different kinds of things but I love it when he sits down in it--it is just perfect for his little body.

Ice Skating Badges

Gus and Cormac both completed their levels in the last ice skating sessions (Tots 1 for Cormac and Basic 1 for Gus).  Where they now take lessons the wonderful instructors do a little ceremony during the public skate time giving the kids their certificates and badges.  Cormac, especially, was very excited about this.

Both boys wanted to continue taking lessons as well so Gus is now in Basic 2 and Cormac in Tots 2.  They have improved so much!
