We carved pumpkins today. This year Cormac even cleaned out the inside of his pumpkin all by himself. We went with traditional jack o' lanterns and I think they turned out really well.

Mr. Bryan's class
Last weekend Gus decided he was going to open a school at home. He had three pretty willing students for about two hours then they started to get a little bored.
He even incorporated kindergarten rest time where all the students rest on their towels and he read a book.

Flag Football
Gus has been playing flag football this fall. He really seems to be enjoying it and I think he might have actually learned a thing or two. I finally remembered to take my camera and get some pictures of him in action.

Cadel is 4!
Almost. We celebrated Cadel's birthday early since Pat will be out of the country. Pat took Cadel out to run errands on Saturday while the boys and I decorated for a "surprise" party. I think Cadel was the most excited about getting to open his presents.
He had plenty of help opening his presents (and playing with them later...).
He wanted a cake with purple frosting. This is because Mace Windu has a purple light saber in Star Wars I and he is the only Jedi with a light saber that color (much like dinosaurs, I now know much more about Star Wars than I ever needed to).
He had a good party and I will still have a few more surprises for his real birthday. He is becoming such a big boy!

Later hosen
These two like their new lederhosen. They wore them all day Sunday.
Gus came up with this joke also: How do you say goodbye to a guy name Hosen? Later Hosen.

Bamberg (again)
We went to Bamberg again last Saturday. We walked around the altstadt, stopped for snacks (ice cream for the kids and a beer for the grown ups), shopped for lederhosen for a couple of boys, and stopped at Pizza Thomas' for dinner.
The boys having a drink at the bar at Pizza Thomas'. It has been awhile but we used to live in the apartment above the pizzeria (not named Pizza Thomas--that is just what Gus called Thomas, the owner). Back then Pat, Gus and I ate there every Friday and Thomas and Ulli are still dear friends.
So two boys have recently expressed interest in having their own lederhosen. There is a great little shop in Bamberg so we took them there to look. Cormac was so excited about his that he had to put them on before dinner.

A walk through the forest
Last Saturday was Tag der Deutschen Einheit (Germany Unity Day and the 25th anniversary to boot) so everything was closed. So instead of a city adventure we took the kids for a hike in the forest right by our house. They thought it was awesome so I am certain we will go again.

Look who lost his first tooth!
He lost it at school yesterday. He was so excited when he got off the bus (but Gus had to steal some thunder and spill the beans on it). He was very proud of the little certificate he got from the school nurse. The tooth fairy came to visit last night too so that was a huge deal for him.
