A Golden Adventure

We ventured to Golden, Colorado, last weekend. Thomas was in town for "A Day Out With Thomas" at the Colorado Train Museum, so naturally, we had to go see him.   Gus and Cormac were so excited to see Thomas.  When we got there Gus was pretty shy, as he usually is in big crowds but Cormac was ready for it all.

Sir Topham Hatt was available to take pictures with. Gus wanted nothing to do with that, but Cormac the train boy wanted to even though he was uncertain about it. At first he gave Sir Topham Hatt a high five, but he wouldn't get any closer.
I finally coaxed him to get a little closer.
Gus and Cormac had a fantastic time climbing over all of the old engines and passenger cars at the museum.

Ready for our ride with Thomas!  Even Cadel thought this was awesome.  Thomas took us around three times which was one time too many because all of the kids were bored by that point (I looked at the two boys across the way and they were both aimlessly picking their noses).

Since we were in Golden we thought we might as well stop at the Coors Brewery for the self-guided tour.  Learning some of the history was interesting (the Golden brewery is the original site of Coors, started by Adolph Coors back in 1873).
Here are some future Quality Control guys.
At the end of the tour we had a free sample of beer and the boys were so excited they got drinks too (lemonade for Gus and root beer for Cormac).

Labor Day weekend

Aunt Kelsey came to visit for Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately out of all of the pictures I took she is only in one. The boys loved having her here. Pat took the two big boys camping the first night and Kelsey and I hung out with Cadel. The next night we all joined in the camping fun.
The very fist thing they do when we go camping now is get right in the rocks.
We took Gus' bike this time and he had the best time riding around!
Pouring rocks on their heads...who knows why?

Kelsey and I got in some hiking while we were there and saw some of the local wildlife.
I've never seen anyone get so excited about seeing a deer, but Kelsey sure did.
There goes Gus on his bike. He loved having all the space to ride.

Too much biking.
Cormac is the ultimate rock collector (watch out Beebo!). He loves playing in the rocks.
After all the bike rides he had to wash his bike.
Once they figured out how to get the water to come out they had a blast making "yucky stew".
Glow sticks are awesome!

This is the only picture I have of Kelsey (she really was there!)--sitting under our cool new chili pepper lights.

Gus' First Day

Gus had his first day at his new preschool yesterday. He was super excited to go because he had such a positive experience at preschool last year in Virginia. He had a great day--he learned a joke, had cupcakes for snack (someone's birthday but he can't remember who), and played with some boys on the playground.
First day picture. He wanted to hold his new lunchbox even though he doesn't stay for lunch until Monday. He also took Duck with him but once we got to school he asked me to take Duck home since he wouldn't fit in the bag on Gus' hook. (Duck was a regular at show-and-tell last year.)
Cormac also got a new lunchbox even though he won't start preschool until next year. Naturally he picked Thomas.

Sparkles

One morning last week Cormac was upset.  When I asked him what was the matter, he told me he had sparkles.  Sparkles???  It took me a long time on this one.  Finally, I looked at his arms and he had goose bumps.  I asked him if those were the sparkles he was talking about.  They were.  I think I like that better than goose bumps.

Sprinkler Fun

There was a little sprinkler on sale at the grocery store and I couldn't resist.  The boys were really excited.  Cormac jumped right in and got soaked.  It took Gus a little longer to get into it.
