Rocky Mountain Spring Break

It is almost that time of the year for a move.  Our next duty station is Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Not a bad place to be, but none of our stops ever have been.  We will be moving sometime early this summer after Pat wraps up his LL.M. and Gus finishes up his preschool.  Our spring break consisted of a quick trip out to Colorado Springs to look for rental houses, get a feel for the area and show the boys some of the fun things Colorado has to offer.  It was a successful trip on all counts.  We were so lucky to have Opa and Mimi (my dad and Janet) come to Colorado Springs to help out with the boys while Pat and I looked at houses.  We couldn't have done it without them and the boys were thrilled to spend time with them.
The snow covered mountain is Pike's Peak. We actually arrived to snow but it quickly melted. Once we move we will take the cog train to the top of Pike's Peak.

We took the boys to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. They really enjoyed it.

Cormac wanted to feed the giraffes. You pay $2 and get some Romaine lettuce leaves to give them. He actually only fed one piece of lettuce to the giraffe since he threw the rest on the ground (there was a learning curve for him).

This is the komodo dragon that is apparently on loan from the OKC zoo.

Checking out the chickens.

This was a young orangutan playing with a box. Watching him reminded me of Gus and Cormac playing with boxes.

Ice cream break with Mimi in downtown Manitou Springs. We stayed at a B&B in Manitou Springs that was awesome.

Wall walking with Opa.
