Halloween

Halloween was super fun and super busy this year. The Tuesday before Halloween I took the younger three to the courthouse to trick-or-treat.  This is normally the time we go to the library for story time but in lieu of that the children's librarian set up this with the courthouse.  Cormac and Cadel were so excited and had a great time. Maggie just enjoys going along for the ride.
Before we headed out to the courthouse.

At the courthouse with Miss Darlene, the librarian.

Gus' school did a book character parade on Halloween.  It was for Red Ribbon week.  So he was Harry Potter for that (not his regular Halloween costume) because he has read a chapter or two from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone during free centers at school.  I think I am going to have to dig out my copies so he can really read them.  Notice his glasses are a little crooked--they are taped because he had an "accident" (i.e. horsing around at recess with his friends) at school this week.  The glasses ended up broken and new frames are ordered.  However, you need glasses to be Harry Potter so tape it was.
Cadel, "Take a picture of me!"
Cormac's preschool also had a parade on Halloween. Since it was really cold that morning they opted to do it in each classroom instead.  Here he is with "prayer hands" before they started.  I am glad I got a picture of this because this is how I see them walking to chapel on Wednesday and it is so cute.
They sang three songs for us.
The final lineup before trick-or-treating:  a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, an astronaut, a pumpkin, a vampire bat.
Maggie and I handed out candy while the boys went trick-or-treating. Cormac was really into it this year. Gus was a little shy. Cadel had fun until about halfway in then he was done. The best part was when they came back from trick-or-treating.  They were more excited to hand out candy to other kids than anything else.  So the boys did that until it was time to close up shop.  A good Halloween!

Soccer season comes to a close

Soccer season is almost over. Cormac has one more game tomorrow.  Gus' team finished last week.  It was a good year.  Cormac REALLY loved it.  I think Gus is ready to move on to something else (namely baseball in the spring).

A stop at the pumpkin patch with Grandma

Grandma came to visit last weekend for Cadel's birthday and also to take in a couple of boy soccer games.  She took all the boys to see The Boxtrolls at the movie theater.  On our way home we stopped at a little pumpkin patch so she could get some apples.  The kids all had fun running around.  It was great to have Grandma come for a visit!

Cadel is 3!

Yesterday was Cadel's third birthday and he had a great day.  He is such a fun little boy--a good amount of ornery with the most perfect freckles on his nose.

Cormac and Gus didn't want to go to school yesterday for fear they would miss birthday awesomeness.

I found little dinosaur candles and that was a huge hit.  Cormac has already requested some for his birthday.

Cadel had LOTS of help opening (and playing with) his presents.  He loved every minute of all of the attention.

Glasses, for now

I took Gus to the optometrist last week at the recommendation of his school nurse.  The eye doctor determined he had Amblyopia (lazy eye) in his left eye.  She wants Gus to wear glasses for the next 5-6 weeks and is hopeful that this will correct the problem.  Gus was not too happy when she first told him, but once we went out to look at the glasses his attitude completely changed.  He had a good time picking out his frames (which, by the way, they have way cooler frames than when I wore glasses as a kid).  On the way home from the optometrist's office he even said he was excited to get his glasses.  We picked up his glasses yesterday and I think he looks so cool.  He is pretty proud of them.
