We arrived at soccer early on Saturday so Gus had some time to shoot at the goals all on his own. He is still having a blast with soccer. However, last Saturday he was a "soccer train" and was choo-chooing all over the field. Before we knew it about half of the other kids were doing it as well.

The Penguins
Gus' soccer team now has a name and uniforms. The kids on the team settled on the Penguins for the team name. As soon as one child said it all the others started waddling around on the practice field like penguins. They also picked up their uniforms on Saturday. Their appearance is a lot more professional than their play now. Gus still has a blast running around and dribbling the soccer ball. He has actually improved quite a bit. Rain has cancelled a few practices but they should be having a "game" on Saturday. I use that term loosely because I know it will just be a bunch of 3 and 4 year-olds running around with no direction but it is a lot of fun.

Running some laps at the beginning of practice.
Doing some warm-up stretches.
Cormac has a lot of fun at soccer practice too. He gets to run around and play with his soccer ball with Pat.

Happy Birthday Pat!
Pat's birthday was this weekend and we had a nice weekend. We began by celebrating with Pat's family on Friday night. We went to Granddad's for pizza, a cookie cake and ice cream. Saturday morning Pat ran in a 10K, we went to soccer and then out to lunch. The rest of the day was Pat's--he chose to watch some football and then we went out for Mexican food for dinner. We celebrated at home Saturday with presents and a chocolate truffle cake. I hope it was a great birthday!

Getting some assistance from Gus, Cormac and Max opening presents.
The birthday police were on hand to make sure everyone wore a birthday hat.

A quick trip
Pat participated in the Nation's Tri on Sunday in Washington, D.C. The original plan was for Pat to go up on Saturday, check-in, do the triathlon on Sunday morning, and then come home. Saturday morning I decided to be spontaneous and pack up the boys and go along. We left after soccer on Saturday morning. We didn't really even do much in D.C. Gus and Cormac were so excited to stay in a hotel so that was almost entertainment enough. It was actually kind of a nice break. I think we may go back before #3 arrives to take in some of the sights.

Happy as can be in a hotel. They picked up some Geico Gecko Pez dispensers at the bike expo for the triathlon. These became the big hit of the trip. Gus even took his to show and tell at preschool yesterday.
